What is Beyond The Screen?
MIHI x A24 are proud to announce Beyond the Screen, a three-week immersive series for young women and non-binary people of color, ages 18-25.
Beyond The Screen is an extension of our mission to change the narrative through the gaze of those who matter. We honor ourselves by forging new pathways and living beyond our fears.

SESSION 1: The Business of Production

In this session, you will learn about the various factors that make up a film’s budget; how a studio balances a filmmaker’s vision with production costs, how to approach your own film budget, and how to advocate for more inclusive sets.
SESSION 2: The Business of Post-Production | 06.11.2022 @ 10am - 1:45pm PST
From sound and music to color and visual effects, post-production can make or break a film. Learn how the post-production process balances creative considerations with financial ones, then practice identifying a script’s post-production needs for yourself.
SESSION 3: The Business of Distribution
| 06.21.2022 @ 1:30pm - 4pm PST
From marketing stunts to theatrical exhibition, learn how distributors work to “find the voice” of a project and get it seen. Plus, learn the journey and lifestyle of those who work on the distribution side and how you can get started, too.

FAQs
Q: Who can apply?
A: This program is open to young women and non-binary people of color between the ages of 18 and 25. Applicants should be interested in a career in film and television.
Q: Will this be in-person or online?
A: All sessions will be conducted virtually via Zoom and Google Classroom.
Q: When will the sessions actually occur?
A: Sessions 1 and 2 session will occur on a Saturday afternoon with the final session on a Tuesday. The exact times are TBA.
Q: How long are the sessions?
A: Each educational session will be 90 minutes, including class instruction and interaction.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: There is no cost to apply or to participate in the program. Made In Her Image and A24 are committed to eliminating the barriers of entry for those who have traditionally been underrepresented in the motion-picture industry.
Q: How do I apply?
A: Submit a completed application prior to the application deadline. As part of the application, be prepared to submit a personal statement, a resume, and work samples.
Q: Does submitting an application guarantee a spot?
A: Unfortunately, no. Once applications have closed, Made In Her Image x A24 will review all applications and notify applicants who are selected.
Q: How will I know whether or not I have been selected?
A: All applicants will be contacted via email by the end of [month] with their application status.
Q: Are there any technical requirements to participate?
A: Participating applicants will need access to a device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) with internet access to participate in the educational and panelist sessions (via Zoom and Google Classroom).
Q: Will this program be offered again?
